WSJ Podcast: New Tools, New Opportunities: AI and Creativity
Wall Street Journal's Brian Kameneztky spoke with Google VP of Technology & Society, Mira Lane, and Promise's Dave Clark to learn more about how artists are using AI to enhance the creative process. Listen to the podcast here.

The podcast notes that as AI tools improve, they are having a tremendous impact on creative expression. Ultimately, says Lane, AI can be used as a collaborative instrument helping artists explore new avenues of creativity while simultaneously democratizing access to technically complex and expensive industries like filmmaking.
Lane believes we’re only now scratching the surface. “I think technology is a catalyst. It’s a surface area for innovation,” she says. Maximizing the potential of AI means tailoring the tools to suit the needs of those using them. “We do a lot of work with artists, musicians and filmmakers. It’s important to have that virtuous cycle of co-creating, getting feedback and then putting those ideas right back into the products and models we’re working on.”
Clark speaks to the opportunities created for artists by using generative tools, and how human-led storytelling has to remain at the forefront of all creative efforts.
