The Guardian's Robert Booth spent a day at Promise Studio HQ during R&D tests for Touch Grass, our newly announced horror film directed by our Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Dave Clark.

The piece looks at our approach to hybrid filmmaking, in this case Clark using gray box technology in our offices to capture actor Tori Thomas in a chase sequence while the environment around her resolved live on the director's monitor, so she could see and play to the world she was performing against.


It also captures the collaboration at the heart of how we work, including Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Joel Hynek, who worked on the practical effects for Predator and describes the shift as the move from optical to digital all over again.


Our Co-founder and CEO George Strompolos frames where this leads: the beginning of a golden era of independent, highly empowered creative companies that will take more creative risks. That is the future we are building toward, one where craft leads and the technology serves the artist and their vision.
