The Hollywood Reporter's Steven Zeitchik pulled back the curtain on a new kind of creative pairing taking shape at Promise: AI directors dreaming up original worlds, then handing the pen to seasoned Hollywood writers to write cinematic scripts. Promise Head of Development Tyler Mitchell explains that bringing in traditional writers strengthens the creative foundation for these projects.

Here's a look at the projects featured:

Hardcore 94: Dave Clark, GenAI filmmaker and Promise Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer, originated this story idea, now in production as a series with Ivan Rome's screenplay and Clark co-directing alongside Metapuppet. Logline: When aliens invade 1994 Compton, a group of local teens must unite and rally their neighborhood into a street-level resistance, turning homemade technology, hustle, and hip-hop culture into weapons of survival.

Tuning In: Currently in pre-production, this four-quadrant animated feature is based on an original story from Clark, with Robert Rugan (The Curse of Bridge Hollow) writing the screenplay and Clark directing. Logline: When 14-year-old Zoe discovers her late father's magical headphones, she is transported into vibrant worlds where music comes alive, helping her navigate grief and find her voice.

Ninja Punk: This adult animated feature grew out of an original concept from Clark, who's attached to direct, while Micho Rutare (Predator: Killer of Killers) writes the screenplay. Logline: Set in the neon-drenched streets of Los Angeles 2065, the story follows a grief-stricken cybernetic ninja seeking revenge against the Yakuza overlords who murdered his wife, only to uncover a supernatural underworld beneath the city.

Everything is Within Tolerance: GenAI director Guillaume Hurbault conceived this short thriller, now in development with Jamie Magnus Stone (Doctor Who) writing the screenplay. Logline: In a vast underground biosphere built to simulate off-world colonization, a group of scientists unknowingly endure a series of manufactured crises as part of an experiment to engineer the perfect leader.
