Promise Co-Founder and CEO George Strompolos joined industry leaders at Bloomberg's annual Screentime conference for a conversation about the evolving role of generative AI in entertainment and its impact on creativity, storytelling and the future of Hollywood.

Moderated by Bloomberg Businessweek Editor Brad Stone, the discussion featured Strompolos alongside Marge Dean, Head of Studio at Skybound Entertainment; Kishori Rajan, producer and writer at Viva Maude; and Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator of SAG-AFTRA.
Strompolos shared Promise's vision for AI-native filmmaking, where emerging technology gives artists new creative capabilities, expands what's possible in animation and hybrid production, and reduces barriers to bringing stories to screen.
Reflecting on his experience helping build YouTube's creator ecosystem, Strompolos drew parallels between the early skepticism surrounding online creators and today's debate over generative AI. He noted that AI is a powerful tool, but what matters most is the craft, care and artist's vision behind it.
The conversation also explored the importance of human performance, the protection of creative talent and the role audiences will play in shaping how AI is adopted across the industry.
As Strompolos noted, “We’re not just connected to the pixels that are on the screen. We’re connected to the artists.”
